Amp
A coding agent and development environment where each thread gets its own cloud machine (an "orb"), so the agent keeps working after you close your laptop.
Early score
Early score, based on docs and demos. Not hands-on tested yet. How we rate
Pros
- Use your ChatGPT, Claude or other subscriptions, or your own keys, with no Amp token fees, per Amp
- Orbs come with your code, tools and plugins set up; start from iPhone, follow up on Mac or in the TUI
- Teams at no extra charge, with thread sharing, shared plugins and skills, and SSO
Cons
- Deliberately opinionated: Amp says it drops features it doesn't use and offers no backward compatibility
- Orb time beyond the plan is pay-as-you-go
